Author/Novelist/ Motivational Rockstarr

RMcDade News
Your source for life happening now events. Spotlighting people making a difference because of the uniqueness of who they are and what they do.

Diamond Cartel

She is the diamond mine of Diamond’s mind. She is also known as a Motivational Rock Starr.  Not so many years ago many knew her as Barbara Carter. However these days she is better known as Diamond Cartel – Author/Novelist and Motivator to many.
I met Diamond in a business women’s group on Facebook. She stood out amongst others because of her energy, her friendly personality and the fact that she was and still is a media junkie. She was always online.  This is also how I came to know the music she liked, she was always posting it. And as I looked a little deeper into Diamond’s life I discovered that she was a fascinating writer.

When I first met her she had posted an excerpt of her book Hurricane which I immediately read. I loved it. The characters were so real if not familiar. They reminded me of people I knew in my younger years. What really stood out to me about this book (Hurricane) was that it brought to the forefront domestic violence.  As I continued to read the book I was able to get inside the abused character’s mind and feel her fear, and witness the secrets that she did not share. A part of her was hidden as she pretended that all was well, while hanging out with her girlfriends.  It’s a fact that domestic violence is happening on a daily bases.  A subject that is very real and personal for many of us.   I commend Diamond Cartel for the work she is doing in this area.

When I contacted Diamond about doing an interview, she responded immediately with so much excitement. I smiled and laughed and thought wow, I would love to impact people like this all the time.
She agreed to do the interview, so I emailed her more information and shared why I do what I do, Again Diamond was extremely excited. So much so, she was at a lost for words. Yes the author/novelist was at a lost for words. Her email read something like this. “OMG…I am…Right now I am turning spiritual cartwheels.” I laughed again and thought, this is why I love what I do. Her response made my day and all the money in the world would not have been enough to replace the joy I felt that Diamond was experiencing.  The moment was indeed priceless.

My phone interview with Diamond was not just informative but it was fun and easy.  I found Diamond to be down to earth, very approachable and very willing to share all about her love and passion for her life work as a writer and motivator. I found her to be a young lady that knows exactly what she wants and also has a clear vision of where she is going.

Who Is Diamond Cartel?

Diamond is a single mother of two, lives in Georgia. She is eagerly anticipating her first
virtual book tour that is scheduled to begin February 27, 2012 and run through March 11, 2012.
She is an Urban Drama, Author/Novelist of 5 books Hurricane (Paperback and ebook), Diamond’s Reign (Paperback and ebook), The Diamond Mine of Diamond’s Mind (ebook), 7 Principles to Guide Your Success in 7 Dimensions (Ebook) and As I Die Slowly (Paperback and ebook) which will be released on Tues February 28, 2012.

Diamond says, “Writing is not only my passion; it’s my purpose.”
That is clearly evident in every novel, short story, article, and literary work produced by Diamond Cartel. Since the age of eight, writing has been a way for her to express what she’s feeling, thinking, and experiencing in life. With three novels, a compilation, and a motivational book all under her belt, Diamond utilizes her passion for words to tell a story to the hearts, minds, and spirits of everyone she comes in contact with. Adding her own twist to traditional storytelling, Diamond doesn’t just write to entertain, but also to empower and encourage. That is why she is the self-professed “novelist like no other.”

Outside her role as a novelist, Diamond also doubles as The Motivational Rockstarr. Under this persona, her goal is to motivate, inspire, and teach others the fundamentals of being successful and following your passion. Everyone has an artist within them. No matter if you’re a writer, painter, photographer, or entrepreneur. The Motivational Rockstarr has something to fuel your drive, give you clarity, and provide you with the tools you need to progress along your path.

Outside of being a novelist, motivator, and writing coach, Diamond loves to simply live and experience life. An avid explorer, she loves to travel. No distance is too great or too small for exploring. She also loves to spend quality time with her children, get lost in a night of music and dancing, and make others laugh like there’s no tomorrow. Diamond truly lives to love and loves to live.

POWER IN NUMBERS: Businesses Making A Difference In Houston TX, With Plans To Take It Nationwide

Jay Davis –CEO/Managing Partner
Power In Numbers/Power In Numbers Flagship Company
“Our Strength is Our Unity…Our Unity is Our Strength.”
POWER IN NUMBERS/POWER IN NUMBERS FLAGSHIP COMPANY.
BUSINESSES MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN HOUSTON  WITH PLANS TO TAKE IT NATIONWIDE.
We all know how bad our economy has spiraled out of control. This has caused Suffering on a variety of levels for many of us.  This has been a wake up call to the reality that our national economy is not serving us as in years past. There is no guaranteed safety net waiting for us when we retire. It can leave us all with an uneasy scary feeling about the future.
So what is the answer to it all if we can’t depend on our jobs to sustain us and our families?
Being self sufficient and joining likeminded others that are doing the same. Supporting one another as we do what we do and creating initiatives and alliances for more people starting their own business and/or entrepreneurships to do the same.  This is one of our best options in this day and time, if we are to maintain the lifestyle that we want.
A company that has successfully put this into action is Power in Numbers located in Houston, Texas.  I had the honor to recently interview the CEO and Managing Partner of this dynamic company.   If you are business in the Houston area, Power In Numbers may be just the Company that can help take your business to the next level. Please check out the interview.
Interview With Jay Davis
1.  What is Power In Numbers?
Power In Numbers is an economic development company whose mission is to strengthen the economy by empowering small and mid-size enterprises to thrive and grow in their respective marketplaces.  The company focuses on providing solutions to overcoming challenges that are typically faced by small and mid-sized enterprises in areas where there has historically been no political solution.  Each and every initiative that is developed and implemented has a significant and measurable economic impact on local and national levels and are planned and strategized by some of the most experienced and respected entrepreneurs that our nation has to offer.
Power In Numbers Flagship Company is the core platform by which the nationwide economic development initiative is developed.  The organization was founded by 25 locally owned and/or operated businesses in the Houston, TX metropolitan area.  These entrepreneurs decided to offer their knowledge, skills, creativity and resources to build a platform by which the community of SMBs as a whole could grow together through collaborative efforts.  This platform was then made available to 974 other owners of local SMB franchises who have the vision, motivation and courage to "lead by example" and pave a new frontier in the marketplace by practicing and promoting "collaborative capitalism".  The Power 999 will tour the nation and share its example and the various benefits that are made available by this example to SMBs in 179 other major metropolitan areas nationwide in its "Pay-It-Forward Bi-annual Tour", in alliance with nearly 2000 Chambers of Commerce Nationwide (Beginning with the Greater Houston Partnership).
2.  The Power In Numbers Economic Development Initiative features micro- initiatives/programs such as:
"Free" Stimulus Initiative - $2.4 Billion in non-debt encumbered, non-government subsidized interest free and 100% forgivable micro-loans to SMBs. (must be members of a partner Chamber of Commerce)
PIN University - Entrepreneurship Education mirroring the curriculum of the #1 Entrepreneurship Program in the United States (Ranked by the Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine) that includes additional training, tools, modules and mentorship needed by small and mid-sized enterprises to adequately "compete" in the marketplace.
Who's Responsible Global Health and Wellness Initiative - Asks the question, "Who's Responsible for the health and wellness of...(fill in the blank)", and provides solutions to meet the challenges of taking responsibility.  Our first program in this initiative is a worksite wellness program that features totally free medical health screenings for employers, employees and their respective families.  The screenings can also be extended to include vendors, suppliers, contractors and customers/clients (and their families).  The program was patterned after the blueprint laid out by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) following a comprehensive study showing that the average return on investment for a "well developed program" is 25%.  Power In Numbers developed a cost-free program in-line with Texas DSHS requirements and the flagship wellness center is now being built in Houston, TX to facilitate the program.  The worksite wellness program will be available to ALL employers and will expand into all 180 metropolitan areas in which Power In Numbers will operate.
Power In Commerce - A cost savings initiative that will feature the procurement of strategically selected products and product lines at 0% markup (for small and mid-sized businesses who are members of partner Chambers of Commerce)
These are just 4 of 12 initiatives that have been developed and are in different stages of implementation over the last 18 years.  The Power In Numbers Economic Development Initiative will be officially launching in 2012 and would be honored to preempt our launch by hosting the Honorable President Bill Clinton to speak to our great city on his views on economic development, good citizenship, moral responsibility and various other global issues that have an impact on our society as a whole and our individual lives.
3. December Events:
The event today was just one of 42 events scheduled between December 12, 2011 and December 30, 2011 to introduce the economic development platform to SMBs in the Houston, TX Metropolitan area.  There are very distinct benefits of enrolling as a Flagship Member (which is only open to Houston-based businesses) that can only be disclosed under the constraint of a very strict non-disclosure/confidentiality agreement.  Businesses are responding extremely well.  Our biggest challenge at this point is getting the volume of businesses that we would like to attend.
January Events:The announcement came on Jan 31st that the Power In Numers Flagship Company is offering five (5) SMB's the opportunity to receive a 40K fully forgivable Microloan@ zero percent interest for their business, based purely on the merit of their business model or product/service- idea.  Funding is available for enterprises in ANY INDUSTRY including start-ups.

My Interview with Social Media Maven Christine Bode

Christine Bode was one of the first to catch my eye out of the numerous people that I had met on Facebook back in November of 2011. My connection with Christine made me want to learn more about her. Christine’s web site (http://scullylovepromo.wordpress.com) had such rich content that I stayed there for awhile just reading and connecting to the different links. As I read I could feel the positive energy. Her site read like a social media adventure story and I saw the workings of social media management in a whole new way. I knew at that moment that I had found a mentor and a new friend. It has been a great honor to interview Christine Bode. Her strength, brilliance and her willingness to share so much about the work she loves is what I admire about her the most.

Social Media Mavens are described as exhibiting innovation in creating and connecting online communities.  They demonstrate leadership in the field by skillfully using social tools to bring in likes, comments, tweets, etc., to deliver an unparallel level of community engagement. This truly describes Christine Bode, who has an impressive social media portfolio. Christine has worked with a wide range of musicians, bands, singer-songwriters, novelists, children’s book authors and independent business owners.

Christine Bode, Professional Social Media Manager, and Internet Promoter, is the owner of Scully Love Promo, which she started in 2008. Scully is the name of Christine’s beautiful dog (a female Goldendoodle).

The Interview with Christine Bode:

RMcDade:  Please share what's going on with your latest project, the social media workshops.

Christine Bode:  I have just started hosting social media workshops and gave my first one last week.  It went really well and gave me the confidence to continue with them in 2012.  I hope to host at least one a month.  I will concentrate on teaching people about the sites I know the most about which include Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and Wordpress.

RM:  While working as a Social Media Manager for almost 4 years, please share what you see as the most repetitive need that your clients ask for help with?

CB:  My clients know that they need to have a social media marketing campaign in place but they’re not sure exactly what to do in order to make it effective.  I help them to get everything up and running, teach them how to use each site properly, and assist with expanding their audience.  My clients need someone to help them with social media because they don’t have the time to do everything that’s required to share all their content, build their network and actually run their business or create their products.

RM:  What inspires you to continue your work in Social Media in spite of the ups and downs over the years?

CB:  To be honest there haven’t been any downs.  I just started working for myself full-time late this year (I’ve always had another part-time job to help supplement my income) and the only thing that’s a bit nerve-wracking is wondering if I’ll make enough money to pay my rent & bills every month.  I love this job though and I find it very interesting because I have to keep learning more and more about social media marketing myself all the time in order to remain relevant.  I also love being my own boss and keeping my own schedule!

I started working with Facebook for one client (a British author) in 2008 and since then, every year I’ve been blessed to work with more and more interesting, talented people.  My client roster has increased significantly this year.  I’m a huge fan of the Arts, so I work primarily with musicians, authors and artists.  A couple of my clients have recommended me to a number of people so my business income doubled this year.  I love them for that!  The best thing about working in Social Media is the people that I get to work with.

RM:  Christine please share your definition of success and true wealth?  For you, what is
'enough'?

CB:  I do believe in 'ENOUGH' and I know that I am richer already than most of the world's population.  I know that we can't take cash, toys, or any other material things with us when we die and I truly believe that the most important thing in life is to spend as much quality time as possible with the people we love and to never stop learning or sharing.

Money is important insofar as we need to have our basic needs met and it's even nice to have a little extra once in a while (I really need a vacation as I haven't had one in 8 years so I'll spend any extra cash that comes my way on travel when I have the chance and I confess I do buy CDs, DVDs & books regularly), but I've never cared about it enough to focus on "getting rich"...I couldn't care less.  I'd rather have free time to read a good book, go to the movies or a play or concert with a friend, or just spend time in nature with my dog.

I quit a $50K per year job working for Canada's leading entertainment lawyer in Toronto in 2004 to move back to Kingston to be closer to my family when my beloved cousin died at age 50 from prostate & bone cancer.  I realized after a two year period during which I went to 8 funerals and had several other tragic things happen in my life that all that really mattered to me was spending as much time with my family & loved ones as I can.  So I moved back to
Kingston where my whole family is and although finances & employment have been a constant challenge ever since, I'm not sorry that I made the move.  I enjoy every moment that I get to spend with my parents and my two sisters and their families and my close friends here to the fullest.  I don't have the same kind of stress in my life and I knew it was time to stop watching capitalist lawyers make millions of dollars a year while their assistants made a pittance in comparison and they weren't in the least bit grateful for how hard we worked.  It's so true that absolute power corrupts absolutely and I don't think that people, just because they can, need to make their services so exclusive that only a select few can afford them.  I met someone this year who taught me about being a social entrepreneur and I really admire her.

RM:  To date, what has been your most rewarding accomplishment or moment with your Social Media work?

CB:  This year has definitely been the most rewarding and some of the things I’m proud of accomplishing are: working for several Juno-nominated musicians; assisting a music publishing company in getting almost 60,000 views of a single video on YouTube in 3 months; collaborating with an author, healer & public speaker with the launching of her successful social media marketing campaign that has resulted in the sale of hundreds of copies of her book; helping the creator of a 2D animated YouTube series to get noticed by the William Morris Agency in LA & Fashion Television; and being able to provide social media assistance and online promotion to three of my favorite Irish singer-songwriters.

RM:  What advice would you give to anyone just beginning to work in Social Media as it relates to the following: finding their niche market, connecting and networking, and what kind of person do you have to be to stick with this business?

CB:  First and foremost you have to love people to work in this business.  You have to enjoy working on the computer, being sociable, and learning new things all the time.  Work with people who you admire, who move you, and who could call you their fan.  Work with people who work in businesses or industries that interest you.  Concentrate on being really good at a few things and don’t try to be all things to all people.  Don’t be afraid to set boundaries because people will try to take advantage of you.  Don’t under sell yourself (I made that mistake)!  Don’t be upset if someone deletes you as a friend online.  Be friends with people you have lots in common with.  Be open, be honest, be willing to share and don’t compromise your personal integrity for anyone.

What I Know For Sure.

This title could cover many different areas of my life. However I am writing this post under this title to express, what I do and with who. I must admit when I started my journey earlier this year in social media marketing, I wasn't quite clear where I was going. Well finally the light bulb has come on. I am A Social Media/Professional and Personal Development Consultant and Trainer, Professional Networker, Storyteller and a Inspirer. This is what I do. This is what I know for sure. The second thing that became clear under the title of "What I know For Sure is who my audience/target market/client/customer is. It is the group known as "The Creatives". Well, one may argue that we are all creatives in our own way. My response to that would be that "the all" can't get a shop on etsy. Only those that create things with hand and heart. Also I see the creatives as artist, whether literary, musician, singer, painter or dancer. I say this because the gift they bring, which more often than not blesses the world originates from themselves. These are the creatives that I was born to be a blessing to and work with.  And what is also so awesome about it all is that I too am a Creative, therefore the people that I am looking for on my journey, to be my audience/target market/client/customer are also looking for me and I will celebrate these connections everytime we find each other. What a relief that finally I am clear on where I am going on my journey.  Now. What Do You Know About You And What You Do For sure? Please share.
